Long term ratings are assigned on a scale of ‘AAA’, ‘AA’, ‘A’, ‘BBB’, ‘BB’, ‘B’, ‘CCC’, ‘CC’ and ‘C’. Short term ratings are assigned on a scale of ‘a-1’, ‘a-2’, ‘a-3’, ‘b’ and ‘c’.

Maintaining transparency and analytical independence
Australia Ratings assigns credit ratings and product complexity indicators. Fees are paid by those requesting the ratings, typically management of Australian organisations and fixed income product sponsors. We have adopted the International Organization of Securities Commission's (IOSCO) Code of Conduct for Credit Rating Agencies and have policies and procedures to ensure conflicts of interest are managed and the analytical independence is maintained.
